Overview
Vishramgad (Pattagad Fort), popularly known as Pattagad or Pach Patta Fort, is a historic hill fort located in the Sahyadri mountain range of Akole Tehsil in Ahilyanagar (Ahmednagar) district, Maharashtra. Situated at an elevation of approximately 1,350 meters above sea level, the fort offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys, forests, and mountain ranges.
The fort is historically significant because it is believed that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj stayed here for rest after returning from his military campaigns. Due to this association, the fort later became known as “Vishramgad,” meaning “Fort of Rest.”
Historical Significance
