Bhairavgad Fort (Kothale) is a historic hill fort located near Kothale village in Akole Taluka of Ahilyanagar (Ahmednagar) district, Maharashtra. Historical Significance
Bhairavgad served as a strategic watchtower fort controlling ancient trade and communication routes passing through the surrounding mountain ranges. Like many forts in the Sahyadri region, it played an important role in monitoring movement through the valleys and passes connecting the Deccan Plateau with the Konkan region. The fort is believed to have been used during the medieval period and later came under the influence of the Marathas.
