📖 User Guide

1. Manual Conversion: DMS to Decimal Degrees

  • Enter degrees (0-90 for latitude, 0-180 for longitude)
  • Enter minutes (0-59)
  • Enter seconds (0-59.999)
  • Select direction (N/S for latitude, E/W for longitude)
  • Click "Convert" to see results
  • Results appear immediately below the input frame

2. Manual Conversion: Decimal Degrees to DMS

  • Enter latitude as decimal (e.g., 19.25566545)
  • Enter longitude as decimal (e.g., 73.65859687)
  • Select appropriate direction
  • Click "Convert" to see results in DMS format

3. Batch Conversion from Excel

  • Step 1: Select your conversion type from the dropdown
  • Step 2: Upload your Excel file (.xlsx or .xls)
  • Step 3: The system will validate all coordinates
  • Step 4: Review results in the table below
  • Step 5: Download converted data using the download button at the top

4. Supported Excel Formats

Format 1 (DMS - Single Column):

  • Column 1: Latitude as "19° 15' 20.4" N"
  • Column 2: Longitude as "73° 39' 30.9" E"

Format 2 (DMS - Separate Columns):

  • Latitude: Degree, Minute, Second, Direction (N/S)
  • Longitude: Degree, Minute, Second, Direction (E/W)

Format 3 (Decimal - With Direction):

  • Column 1: Latitude (decimal), Column 2: Direction (N/S)
  • Column 3: Longitude (decimal), Column 4: Direction (E/W)

Format 4 (Decimal - Signed):

  • Column 1: Latitude (positive for N, negative for S)
  • Column 2: Longitude (positive for E, negative for W)

5. Validation Rules

  • Latitude must be between -90° and +90°
  • Longitude must be between -180° and +180°
  • Minutes must be between 0 and 59
  • Seconds must be between 0 and 59.999
  • Invalid entries will be highlighted in red in batch results

6. Download Templates

Visit the "Templates" tab to download sample Excel files for each format. Use these as starting points for your data.

7. Tips for Best Results

  • Ensure your Excel file has headers in the first row
  • Remove any empty rows before uploading
  • Use the correct template for your data format
  • Double-check direction indicators (N/S/E/W)
  • For decimal degrees, use sufficient precision (at least 6 decimal places)
